How many guests can you accommodate?
The Barn: Max capacity 120 seated, 200 standing.
Marque Space: Max capacity 120 seated, 200 standing.
We welcome large and small wedding groups up to our max capacity –contact us for details.
Can our guests camp?
McGrath Estate is strictly no camping, unless arranged prior to your event. Our team will be sure to recommend nearby options for overnight accommodation.
Where are you located?
Our address is 163 Horsman Road, Waitakere, New Zealand, 0782 – We are around 40 minutes drive from Auckland CBD and 30 minutes drive to central suburbs.
Does your venue allow BYO catering?
No, catering is either through Free Range Chef or a Food Truck which is agreed on prior to your event (contact us for recommended food truck vendors).
Can I have a marquee?
Yes, we allow marquees to be erected however this must be arranged prior. If you have a specific request please contact us directly.
When booking a wedding at The Barn, what's included?
- Full exclusive use of McGrath Estate for Photography;
- Ceremony location;
- Macrocarpa Tables and Wooden Crossback Bentwood Chairs for the ceremony and reception;
- Reception Bar;
- Festoon lighting
- Lawn games;
- Toilets;
- Shuttle Service (to shuttle guests from the car parking area (at the entrance of the property) down to the Red Barn and back again at the end of the night);
- One meeting at the venue to run through logistics of wedding;
- Phone and email correspondence;
- Rehearsal at McGrath Estate on set up day;
- Package includes the day prior for setting up the event, the day of your event and the day after the event for packing down.
When booking a Marquee wedding, what's included?
- Full exclusive use of McGrath Estate for Photography;
- The lookout ceremony location (expansive views over the Waitakere Ranges);
- Marquee site (does not include marquee hire);
- Macrocarpa Tables and Wooden Crossback Bentwood Chairs for the ceremony and reception;
- Festoon lighting;
- Lawn games;
- Portable Speaker & Microphone Set;
- Wedding Arch;
- Generator;
- Toilets; and
- Set up of Chairs, tables and Arch.
- Rehearsal at McGrath Estate on set up day;
- Off-street parking & parking coordinator for on the day;
- One meeting prior at the venue to run through logistics of wedding;
- Staff liaison, including phone and email correspondence;
- Package includes the day prior for setting up the event, the day of your event and the day after the event for packing down.
Is there parking available?
Parking for maximum 30 vehicles for guests AND suppliers, bus transport is always advised for guests - please contact us for preferred suppliers.

What are our options if the weather doesn’t permit an outdoor ceremony?
We welcome the hire of a marque to be erected over the ceremony space or the use of The Barn if available, with confirmation required 48hrs in advance. Please speak to the team at McGrath Estate to arrange this with a supplier.
When can my suppliers set up and when does everything have to be packed up and taken away?
Set up is available from 9am the day before your event and pack down must be completed the day after your event. Anything outside of these hours can be arranged and quoted accordingly.
